I tend to muck around with the framing of compositions probably more than I should..

One of the paintings being submitted next month started off with the frame landscaped and just didn't work very well, so..... I just reorintated the framing of the original drawing I'm using as reference, taping some extra paper to the top and bottom - very high tech!

After a weekend scouring Stirlingshire for some painting refs - a bit of "texture recce", here's a new wee portrait study, finished fairly recently..

Big fan of the late, great Ralph McQuarrie, so this sketch is probably influenced by some of those droid designs from the original Star Wars trilogy...and yes there is possibly a Skottie Young influence in there aswell..

Hey folks, couple of uploads today.

I've been toying with comps for paintings recently & with this portrait study, I was trying to give the impression of someone almost shielding their thoughts, looking away from the frame.  (kinda like a few of those iconic Liz Fraser from the Cocteau Twins shots)

Not entirely sure, but I might develop this one further..

Busy busy getting a few submissions ready for various things.. should have some more info in the next few weeks. In the meantime, I'll post some more of those life drawings & get some sketchbook stuffs scanned & posted soonish - there may be a slight Skottie Young influence on some of it btw...
