Chimpanzee pitch

This was originally started a few months ago as a personal piece and didn't really come together too good - kind of resembled a Planet Of The Apes character more than a chimpanzee. Scrapped that one, reworked and using this one to pitch for a commission.

The final sculpt is actually a mix of various chimp & bonobo ref pics with some features deliberately accentuated - such as the chin fur (just to stylise a little)

Yggdrasil

Resin cast Triptych.

Ended up sculpting this as one piece, casting & splitting the thing into three. The finished piece was then mounted onto board with latches attached to clip the 3 panels if needed. Original idea was to give the roots the look of porous bone & appear opaque but settled for a slightly denser look. Created using polyurethane resin, pigment & filler.

Another nightmare recomp.. I've added a wall & guesstimated the shadow using an improvised scale model (old action man doll sitting on a painted prop) the camera pics looked very muted and grey compared to the original painting - have used photoshop to colour correct...
